Over the years Ananda has helped thousands of truthseekers all over the world to prepare for initiation into Kriya Yoga. Weve seen that the practice of Kriya is infinitely more effective after the proper preparation and study of the Kriya teachings. Anandas Kriya Sangha offers extensive support to people in all stages of their Kriya practice.
Kriya Yoga at Ananda
We teach Kriya Yoga just as Paramhansa Yogananda taught it. Preparation for Kriya includes the study and regular daily practice of the meditation techniques he taught: the Energization Exercises, and the Hong-Sau and Aum techniques of meditation.
Students can learn these practices through classes at an Ananda Center, and through the Ananda Course in Self-Realization, Anandas home study course. The course of study and practice takes about a year. Students should be meditating at least 1 1/2 hours every day by the time they receive Kriya initiation.
We also ask people to make an inner commitment to this path, and take initiation in discipleship to Yogananda and the Kriya line of Gurus.
Kriya initiation is offered at Ananda centers throughout the world. Ideally, Kriya is received in person through initiation. When thats not possible, it can be received through the mail.

Kriya Yoga Support
After receiving the Kriya technique, students are given extensive ongoing support, including:
- Follow-up lessons in Kriya after your initiation.
- Access to a special password-protected Kriya Yoga website with articles and talks on Kriya Yoga.
- Counseling and checking of your Kriya practice available in person, over the phone, or via email.
- Regular Kriya retreats, meditations, and classes throughout the world.
- Excerpts from talks given at recent Kriya initiations, and news of upcoming Kriya events.
Authority to Give Kriya
Paramhansa Yogananda personally authorized Swami Kriyananda to initiate others into Kriya Yoga, acting as Yoganandas instrument. Swami Kriyananda has also authorized a number of Ananda teachers to initiate people into Kriya, acting as instruments for the Ananda line of Gurus.
Kriya is offered as an initiation because it is more than a technique. At Kriya initiations, the teacher offering the initiation acts as a channel for Yoganandas magnetism and blessing. Many people have been transformed by the power of Kriya initiation through Ananda.
